How to Connect Suppliers and Contractors to the ERP System?

According to data from Central Statistical Office, over 88% of large Polish companies use ERP or CRM systems. Automation in data gathering, their exchange and analysis have simplified the decision-making process and became a vital tool for the development of many companies in various industries. However, from our observations we gather that in many cases companies still do not communicate with its own environment in the supply chain in a way that would be integrated and automatic.

Popularization of the Internet has resulted in fax machines being obsolete as well as limiting the amount of phone calls in favor of e-mail messages, communicators or online auctions.

Nonetheless, very often we gather and update acquired data that afterward we enter into the system operating within the organization. Sometimes the data is sorted and undergoes preliminary processing using more or less complex spreadsheets.

Access to information and its exchange between outside users require an appropriate configuration and limitation. As a result, companies are looking for improvements in the supply chain management, deciding more and more often on the implementation of independent SCM, TMS, YMS type systems and their integration with an already-functioning ERP system. Such an approach is often significantly cheaper than the expansion of the system with another module. Additionally, in the case of ready-made ERP modules, clients often notice the lack in elasticity of proposed solutions in regard to specific requirements for communication with the environment in the field of logistics. The Logistics Platform (SCM) and Time Slots (YMS) are some of the examples of browser-based systems dedicated to enhancing the logistics management in the communication with contractors, notification management or utilizing interactive warehouse operation schedules.

A short description of the aforementioned tool by one of our clients:

Integration of Time Slots by Logintegra with ERP system has significantly affected the quality of cooperation with outside companies. Thanks to the implemented solution, Suppliers have a constant insight to the current order while we receive the information about the confirmation of an order along with its delivery date without delay. Notifications are rapidly synced between systems. The integration has allowed for less work, we no longer “waste time” on sending additional e-mail messages or conducting phone calls, instead we can focus on new orders.”

The “connecting” of our business partners enables the information exchange practically in real-time, reduces the number of misunderstandings and errors as well as facilitates the possibility of cost analysis even during the realized processes. This allows to improve the planning and overseeing of each step of ongoing activities. The automatic transfer of data regarding the status of a shipment or the delivery of goods enables the tracking of timeliness and a rapid response in the event of difficulties. The integration of systems in such a case is, first and foremost, the integration with the closest environment that allows an even more efficient operation and achieving the competitive edge.

ERP suppliers for several years now have been encouraging new and current customers to place their products in the cloud. Such an approach allows the integration of dedicated systems for the enhancement of the supply chain management (SCM, TMS, YMS, etc.) to become even faster and at the same time less costly.
